Obituary for Leslie Eugene "Les" Bowling

Leslie Eugene Bowling, Age 92 of Manistee died Thursday evening September 7, 2017 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.
He was born on June 5, 1925 in Cadillac, MI the son of the late Frank & Edna (Christofferson) Bowling. He was a 1943 graduate of Cadillac High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army, and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He married Doris N. Jenema on October 4, 1946 in Falmouth, Michigan.
Les was banker, having been employed by Security National Bank in Manistee. He retired on June 5, 1990.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee and the Manistee Kiwanis Club. Les also served as a City Councilman and Mayor of Manistee. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife; Doris N. Bowling of Manistee, two children; Forrest (Jeanne) Bowling of Byron Center and Vicki (John) Mackey of Bear Lake, daughter-in-law; Kathy Brink of Cumming, GA, seven grandchildren; Sheldon, Letty, John III, Marc, Tasha, Heather, & Molly, 13 great grandchildren, his sister; Norma (Roy) Wheeler of Mesick, brother-in-law; Jacob Jenema, and sister-in-law; Mildred Jenema both of Falmouth, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sons; Marshall and Jeffrey Bowling, and by 4 brothers; Kenneth, Russell, Emory, & Earl, and by two sisters; Gladys and Agnes.
Memorial Services for Leslie E. Bowling will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee with Reverend Kevin McClain officiating. Military Honors by the Manistee United Veterans Council Honor Guard in follow. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service.
