James L. Benson, age 75, of Ludington passed away Monday, September 4, 2017. He was born July 19, 1942 in Muskegon to Kenneth and Esther (Anderson) Benson.
James worked as a mechanic for most of his career, but he also spent time in a tannery and in construction. He married Staci Goerbig on February 8, 1991 in St. Johns, MI.
In his spare time, James enjoyed singing and playing guitar. He especially loved old country music. James also loved working on cars and building. He and a friend built his home on Stiles Rd.
James is survived by his wife Staci, Children: Tonya Fatchett of Jackson, Bridgette Benson of Jackson, Shannon Benson of Jackson, Misty Reed, and Jami (Chris) Spuller of Ludington; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter; his mother, Esther Benson, and sisters: Sally Smith and Donna (Roy) McGraw.
James was preceded in death by his father, grandson, Shelden Benson, Siblings: Frank and Ron Benson, and Bonnie Domin; and first wife, Jean Goodman.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Ludington. Pastor Brian Blount officiating. Family will greet friends beginning at 3pm until the time of service.
