Jonathan (Jon) Dorn Sheathelm
Jon died unexpectedly Thursday, August 31, 2017. He was born to Robert Sr. and Thelma (Wiens) Sheathelm on August 8, 1962 in Flint, MI. He is survived by his wife, Cindy and daughter, Sarah of Manistee, son, Justin Sheathelm and fiancée, Alyssa of Santa Fe, N.M., sister, Bethany (Ed) Stanisiewski of Grand Haven, MI, brother, Jeffery Sheathelm of Pinckney, MI. Also, survived by brother-in-law, Carl Kidder of Midland, MI, father and mother-in-law, Virgil and Betty Long, brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Cheryl Long all of Holly, MI as well many nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death were his parents, brother, Robert Jr., sister, Martha Kidder, and grandson, Oliver.
Jon loved his family and friends. He also loved teaching his students at Baldwin High School. Jon enjoyed being outdoors. He aspired to be a cartoonist and no paper that got in his way was left without some kind of drawing on it. He thought "Free Comic Book Day" should be considered a national holiday. Jon dominated in any kind of trivia, especially movie. He also got a kick out of putting his own words to existing tunes or creating his own whenever the mood struck.
A memorial service will be held in Jon's honor at the gazebo in "Rocket Park" in Manistee Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 3:30. Pastor Paul Duby officiating. All are welcome.
