Obituary for Golden Evan "Goldie" Schultz

Golden “Goldie” Evan Schultz, Age 84 of Manistee, Michigan went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 28, 2017 surrounded by loved ones.
Goldie was born on January 2, 1933 in Free Soil, Michigan to August and Mildred Louise (Sanford) Schultz. He attended Free Soil Community and Manistee High Schools. Goldie enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War as an Airman 1st Class and mechanic on B-52 Bombers. In 1955 he married the love of his life, Mary Ruth Adams in Enid, Oklahoma, and returned to Michigan.
Goldie retired as a foreman at Packaging Corporation of America after 37 years. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish (Guardian Angels Catholic Church). An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed archery, fishing, and hunting – always in pursuit of the white tailed deer and wild turkeys. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, National Turkey Federation, and the Catholic War Veterans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin brothers; Allen and Albert Winters, & sisters-in-law; Mae Rose (Allen) Winters, and Daveen (James) Winters.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Mary, his children; Janet (Steve) Duchon of Manistee, Judith (Kent) Pilcher of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Russell (Nancy) Schultz of Sugarland, Texas, and a brother; James Winters of Rochelle, IL. Goldie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; Evan (Amber) Jach of Traverse City, Erica (Matthew) Snyder of Grand Haven, Jacob Pilcher of Bettendorf, IA, Samuel Pilcher of Chicago, IL, Cooper, Trent, & Spencer Schultz of Sugarland, TX, Jacqueline (Joel) Dante of Mt Pleasant, SC, and Steven Duchon of Grand Rapids, MI., great grandchildren; Liam Rose, Skyla Jach, and Calvin Snyder, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. There were many cherished friends such as Marion Duchon and the longtime neighbors on 4th Street, as they celebrated many holiday gatherings together.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with Father Zeljko Guberovic celebrant. Military Honors by the Manistee United Veterans Council and US Air Force will follow. The family will gather at church to greet friends from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.
Memorials may be made in honor of Goldie to Guardian Angels Church or the Catholic War Veterans of Manistee Post #1847.
