Russell E. Spore Jr., age 60, of Scottville passed away Friday, September 1, 2017. He was born July 13, 1957 in Ludington to Russell and Frances (Winegarden) Spore.
Russell married Dixie L. Huggard in July 1980. Together they raised two daughters. Russell worked as a mechanic for Thiel Auto Sales and Ruesink Auto. He was a bus driver for MCC Schools for 19 years, retiring in 2014.
Russell was a tinkerer in the garage. He was always buying and fixing old cars, trucks, and lawn mowers. He loved road trips, shopping, and amusement parks. His family was everything to him, and there was nothing he loved more than playing with his grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, Dixie; daughters: Jamie Spore of Ludington and Sara Spore of Custer; Granddaughters: Sophia and Kara Quick; siblings: Elaine Paul of Custer, Cathy Spore of Kentucky, Ben Spore of Kentucky, and Debbie Sample, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; Russell and Frances Spore and nephews, Jason Grant and John Aron Smith.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 4 p.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Ludington. Family will greet friends starting at 3pm until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Russell’s name may be directed to the family.
