Obituary for A. John Barber

A. John Barber
A. John Barber, 77, of Ludington passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2017 with his family by his side.

John was born on July 27, 1940, the son of Raymond and Marguerite (Wiseman) Barber. He graduated from Chesterfield High School in 1958 and married his sweetheart, Ann Pochay, on July 11, 1959. John started selling Kirby vacuums in Muskegon in 1969 and was promoted as a factory distributor and moved to Ludington with his family in 1972, retiring 43 years later. He loved God, his family and his Ferguson tractor.

John’s love for the Lord showed through his generosity and care for others. He was an active member of Path of Life and enjoyed the men's Monday night bible-study and especially his time of driving the church bus. God called him to "a cross in the pocket" ministry and through that over 100,000 people were touched with a pocket cross and prayer all over the world.

John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Barber; children, Steven (Colleen) Barber and Michael (Lisa) Barber; grandchildren, Jenna (Bryan) Sanders, and Samuel, Jay, Cody and Nick Barber; and great grandchildren, Jude, Sadie and Kinsey Sanders, and Reagyn Barber.

John was preceded in death by his parents and sister Betty Wood and brother Bob Barber.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Spectrum Health Foundation, Ludington Hospital-Cancer Center; 1 Atkinson Dr, Ludington MI 49461. Please write "John Barber" on the memo line.

Arrangements were entrusted to Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Ludington.
