Margaret Joyce Goulet, born August 28, 1929 to parents Steve and Cynthia (Matthews) Schaner, peacefully passed away July 21, 2017. Joyce is now reunited with her loving husband of 68 years, John and her son John Steven, in heaven.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Jerry and sister Katherine.
Joyce graduated from Hart High School in 1948. She maintained her school friendships throughout her life and attended yearly class reunions. Joyce worked as an usher at the Hart Theater and as an operator for the Hart Phone Company.
In 1948 she married John Goulet and moved to Ludington. After Joyce raised her four children, she returned to working outside the home at the Ludington Court House in the Register for Deeds Office. As an aide for Ludington Public Schools for 10 years, the students and staff enjoyed Joyce’s kind nature and the exceptional baked goods she shared.
Her kitchen was the center of the Goulet household. Friends and family were delighted with her fresh pies and numerous cookie recipes. Her Christmas cookie platters were legendary; every family member requested and received their personal favorites. Joyce loved to entertain, setting a beautiful table and preparing the perfect meal.
Joyce is survived by daughter, Cindy of Green Cove Springs, FL; 2 sons, Ron (Karen) of Nakomis, FL and Jeff (Genia) of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Kathy Goulet of Ann Arbor, MI.
Her legacy will continue with her nine grandchildren, Damon (Emily) Goulet, Jared, John and Aaron (Sally) Goulet; Shana Lindsey and Cindy Lou Goulet, Daniel and Michelle Goulet, and Angelique Goulet; great grandchildren, Maya and Kaden Pitts, Grace and Eli Goulet and newborn Isaiah Goulet.
“Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
Proverbs 31: 28-31
Joyce was a lifelong member of St. Simon’s Catholic Parish. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will gather to celebrate Joyce's life during the summer of 2018.
