Obituary for Carole Ann Messer

Carole Ann Messer, Age 78 of Arcadia, MI died Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Spectrum Heath-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Carole was born on May 28, 1938 in Croswell, MI the daughter of late Clarence & Pauline (Nehring) Brown. She was a 1956 graduate of Bentley High School in Flint and had attended West Shore Community College. She married Philip C. Smeltzer on April 6, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davison, MI. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2006. On April 24, 2010 Carole married Kenneth E. Messer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2014.

Carole was employed as a bank manager by Security National Bank at the Arcadia Branch, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia, enjoyed reading, and peeled potatoes for Arcadia Days.

Survivors include her son: Wesley (Lori) Smeltzer of Ludington and daughter; Audra Smeltzer of Louisiana, grandchildren; Wesley II, Jonathan, Christian, Samantha, Bethany, Payton, and Gage, her sister; Paula (Hugh) Yorton of Bear Lake, stepchildren; Kari Messer, Joe (Cathy) Messer, Nancy (Jim) Snider, Tim (Tarina) Messer, and Rick Messer, 10 step-grandchildren, and 2 step-greatgrandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her brother; Brian Brown.

Memorial Services for Carole A. Messer will be held Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Jim Metcalf officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasanton Township Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Memorials in Carole’s name may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church in Arcadia.
