Obituary for Nels Nelsen Lund

Nels Nelsen Lund
Nels Nelsen Lund, 89, of Ludington, passed away on April 18, 2017.

Nels was born on August 19, 1927 in Ludington, the son of Nels and Serene (Pedersen) Lund. He was drafted into the United States Army during his senior year of high school, then went back and graduated in 1946. Nels married Marjorie Schroeder on June 19, 1954 and they raised four children. He was a founder of Dear Brothers Association, a lifetime member of the American Legion, and The Fin and Feather Club. He owned and operated Lund’s Repair Shop for many years before working at Jackson Vibrators, retiring in 1989.

Nels was a natural engineer; he was always modifying and creating machines in his shop. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping. He could often be found feeding the animals or walking his dog, Sparky. Nels loved to travel, his favorite vacations were trips to St. George Island and White Lake in Canada.
Nels lived a good life; he was a hardworking man and a good provider. He was a great father, kind and gentle, and always giving of himself.

His honest and loving attitude will be missed by those who survive him, wife, Marjorie A. Lund; children, David (Ann) Lund, Wendy (Gary) Kosch, Dan (Jennie) Lund, and Lisa (Douglas) Sarto; grandchildren, Glover, Stacey, Garrett, Eric, Bryan, Nicholas, and Mackenzie; several nieces and nephews; and siblings, Jack (Kathleen) Lund, Florence Cabot, and Dorothy Jensen.

Preceding Nels in death are his parents, Nels and Serene Lund; siblings, Louie (Virginia) Lund, Agnes (Leo) Hansen, Irene (Edward) Larsen, Evelyn (Chris) Pedersen; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Cabot, Earl Jensen; and parents-in-law, Frederick and Marjorie Schroeder.

A Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday, Saturday, August 19, 2017, times are pending, at his home in Ludington. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion.
