Obituary for Donald Leon Piszczek, Sr.

Donald Leon Piszczek, Sr., 78, passed away quickly at Tendercare Nursing Home of Ludington, MI on the evening of April 1, 2017. Donald’s death was preceded by his parents, Joseph Leon Piszczek and Mildred Pauline (Rugowski), and his sister Lenore (Piszczek) Yeck. He is survived by his siblings: Robert Piszczek (Muskegon) and Kenneth Piszczek, Sr. (Fruitport, MI) and his children: Donald Leon Piszczek (Columbiana, OH), Teresa Marie Piszczek (Lexington, IN), Tammie Faye Richie (Lake Placid, FL), Sheryl Lynn Elliott (Sebring, FL), Jodi Taylor (Dallas, TX), Lisa Marie Bates (Ludington, MI) and Bobbie Bates (Ludington, MI) and by 13 grandchildren. The funeral will be held at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Ludington at 11am on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Family will gather for visitation at 10am.

Don served with the US Air Force in the 49th Command Squad. He traveled worldwide and served our country in the Vietnam War from 1960 – 1963. As a long term resident of Ludington, Don was employed for several years at the Great Lakes Casting Company before starting his own business. Don also owned Don’s Tax Service where he helped many individuals with their income taxes since 1970.

He was a dedicated, long time member at St. Simons Roman Catholic Church in Ludington. His hobbies included: golf, travelling, camping, gardening, fishing, coin and stamp collecting. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. So, therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made to the Veteran’s Sanctuary for rehabilitation and recovery: Payments made to: WILWIN (Memo: In memory of Donald L. Piszczek, Sr.), Mail to The American Legion Department of Michigan, ATTN: Accounting, 212 N. Verlinden, Lansing, MI 48915. Or a food donation to his church: St. Simon Pantry located at 702 E Bryant Rd, Ludington.
