David Stanley Nickelson, 67, of Ludington, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017.
David was born on February 26, 1950, in St. Johns, MI. He graduated from St. Johns High School in 1968. For many years, he worked at Keeler Brass in Grand Rapids, then retired from Haworth in Ludington. During his retirement, David enjoyed being the “tool man” at Lowe’s in Ludington, where he could offer his vast knowledge to help customers with their projects.
David was a handyman around the house and a hard worker who had a knack for making things work. He enjoyed woodworking, making knives, antler lamps, and many other hand crafted items. David was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially his family time at his property in White Cloud.
David was a strong man; emotionally and mentally. He cared for others more than himself, which was apparent by the way he cared and provided for his wife; always concerned for her wellbeing. He was a supportive father and had a very special bond with his son.
David is survived by his wife, Lora (DeVries/Buist) Nickelson; son, Scott (Heather) Nickelson; stepdaughter, Melanie (John) Stover/Buist; mother, Carol Estes; siblings, Doug (Janet) Nickelson, Diana (Dwight) Doyle, Tim (Lynn) Estes, and Trudy (Ray) Fortier; grandsons, Nathan and Tyler Nickelson; brother-in-law,
Rodger(Phyllis) DeVries; sisters-in-law, Cheryl VanRegenmorter and Marva (Bob) VanDyke; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and many Lowes customers and fellow co-workers.
Preceding David in death are his stepfather, Herbert Estes; stepbrother, Terry Estes; and brother-in-law, William VanRegenmorter.
