Karen Belle Henrickson, 73, of Ludington, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Oakview Medical Care Facility.
Karen was born on October 27, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, the eldest daughter of Andrew and Doris (Kaber) Henrickson. She graduated from Ludington High School and attended cosmetology school in Grand Rapids.
In 1961, She was wed to the late John “Willie” Spuller. Karen felt blessed to be able to stay at home while she raised her children. She was very involved with their activities and made a point to raise each of them differently according to their needs. Karen had a kind heart and put the needs of others before her own.
For 24 years, Karen was the first friendly face people would see while she worked at Oakview Medical Care Facility. She enjoyed painting ceramics, cooking, bon fires, taking rides to the beach, and being in nature. Karen loved her family, especially making them feel special on their birthdays.
As everyone’s “Grandma Karen”, her soft heart will be missed by all who survive her; children, Jill (Matt) Saya, Curt (Kim) Spuller, Kevin (Nancy) Spuller, and Michelle (Jack) Johnson; siblings, Ron (Beth) Henrickson, Pam (Drew) Denick, and LuAnne (Dennis) Winiecke; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, with two more on the way; nieces; and nephews.
Preceding Karen in death are her parents, Andrew and Doris; and her grandson, Adam Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Ludington, with visitation starting at 1:00 pm. A potluck luncheon will be held at the funeral home following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of Jill Saya, to help with funeral expenses.
