Obituary for Archie Marshall Lewis

Archie Marshall Lewis
Archie M. Lewis, 71, of Ludington, passed away on February 7, 2017 at McLaren-Greater Lansing Hospital.

Arch was born in Holt on November 5, 1945, son of Archie and Enid Lewis. He received his teaching degree from Michigan State University and briefly worked for Lansing Public schools. Arch later worked as a State Legislator, before moving to D.C. where he worked for the Trial Lawyers Association, and later Geneva. Once Arch moved back to Michigan he worked for West Shore Community College as the Small Business Institute Director. Ultimately, all those positions lead him to his twenty three year long career with the Michigan Education Association. With plans to retire in July, arch completed his career for MEA as their Retirement Director.

Arch was a proud father, active in his children’s activities, caring, and always had an open-door policy to friends and family. Arch enjoyed boating, golfing, reading, woodworking, and listening to Big Band music. He was well traveled, loved the theatre and visiting the lighthouses throughout Michigan.

Arch is survived by his children, Amy (David) Krugler, Christopher Lewis, and Aaron Lewis; step-daughter, Cara (Zach) Mitchell; grandchildren, Alexis and Lillianna Mitchell; and other close family members.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Ludington, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Civil Liberties Union, 2966 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201.
