Obituary for Gerald David "Jerry" Adamski

Gerald “Jerry” David Adamski, age 75, of Manistee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 18, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 8, 1940 in Manistee, son of the late Stanley and Sophie (Purgiel) Adamski. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1958. Jerry enlisted in the United States Army on November 5, 1963, serving as a military policeman until his honorable discharge on November 4, 1965. Later he worked in the Pentagon for the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Jerry married Wanda Johnson on October 17, 1966 in Washington, D.C.
Upon deciding to return to Manistee, Jerry and his wife Wanda purchased the Easy Wash Laundromat on Washington St., operating it until his retirement. They then decided to travel around the United States. Family meant everything to Jerry and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda Adamski of Manistee; 2 daughters, Michelle (Andy) Richards of Manistee and Cheryl (Paul) Guenthardt of Manistee; grandchildren, Jared (Tsedaqah Loura), Tyler and Nicole Guenthardt all of Manistee; great-granddaughter, Zaphira Guenthardt of Manistee; brother, Larry (Barb) Adamski of Spring Lake; 3 sisters, Caroline Garry of Manistee, Delores (Danny) Raczkowski of Manistee, Shirley (Karl) VanderVeer of Ludington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday October 21, 2016 at Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee with Pastor Joseph Hilyard officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00AM until time of service.
