Robert A. Vandenbosch, age 97 of Bear Lake, Michigan passed away Thursday morning, December 3, 2015 at his home.
He was born on December 8, 1917 in Kokomo, Indiana the son of the late Anthony & Sarah Ann (Connor) Vandenbosch. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Force as an aerial gunner. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a l949 graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
Robert married June Hart on December 27, 1961 in Santa Rosa, CA. He was employed as a structural engineer by R.A. Vandenbosch and Associates in downtown Oakland, CA for 52 years, retiring in 2002. He held licenses in real estate, architecture, civil & structural engineering.
He was a member of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church in Oakland for 32 years where he was a server and usher. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob enjoyed water skiing, tennis, and golf. He was a water color artist who loved working around the yard all year long. In his spare time he was challenged by crossword puzzles and algebra problems.
Surivors include his wife; June Vandenbosch and daughter; Lisa Vandenbosch.
He was also preceded in death by one brother; Ernie Vandenbosch, and by six sisters; Irene Ray, Josephine Stahl, Rosalie Fenn, Mary Lou Peters, Agnes Vandenbosch, and Eleanor Hershfield.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. Final interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
